Quickly & Easily Add Your Business to Google Maps

A fair number of businesses I have worked with do not know how to add their business to Google maps. But it’s not just about adding your business to google Maps.

What is Google My Business?

Google my business is a service offered by Google allowing you to not only add your business to Google Maps, but also to benefit from marked up business information. In Google My Business, you can add:

  • Your Store on Google Maps
  • Business Hours
  • Photos
  • Special Offers
  • Customer Reviews

Not only does this only take about 5 minutes, it is completely free. This tutorial will teach you how to do it today.

How to Add Your Business to Google Maps

1. Go to Google My Business

2. Search for your companies’ address in the search bar (note: Some companies do not have a public address from which they operate. That is not a problem, you can hide your exact address from clients if needed by clicking on “Yes” for “I deliver goods and services to my customers at their location.”

However, you must enter an real address as the next step is that Google will send you a post card through the mail (to the address you specified) with a confidential code on it.

Once you receive the post card (about a week later) go back to your Google my Business account and enter the code you received to confirm your business identity.

Make sure all of your business information is up to date (business name, address, phone number(s), website, categories, hours, and photos).

Google will provide you insights on actions that people searching for you carry out. For example, how many people clicked on the “call” button and phoned your company directly from the Google search. You will also see reviews, and analytics if your Google Analytics account is set up correctly.

A few days after you finish setting your business up on Google, do a quick search and you will see detailed information on your company come up on the right hand of your search.
