Bitcoin Events

Whether you’re organizing a meetup, hosting a workshop, or simply looking to deepen your own understanding, you’re welcome to use, adapt, and share these resources freely. These presentations have been developed to explore Bitcoin from a variety of angles—technical, philosophical, economic, and spiritual. Here are quick links to full event descriptions, slides, and guides for organizers:

My goal is to help accelerate grassroots education and foster deeper conversations about why Bitcoin matters. Everything here is offered in the spirit of open-source collaboration.

Bitcoin: A Paradigm Shift ✨

This is the main Bitcoin education event I have been holding every 2 months the town where I live. It aims to walk curious minds through the systemic theft of fiat with a focus on inflation and how it directly affects our daily lives. It then aims to bring in Bitcoin as a solution for empowerment, self-liberation, and hope.

The Presentation

I’ve been offering this presentation for beginners every two months locally and it has attracted 15 people on average per session (mainly women).

This event has been highly recommended by participants with an average 5/5 star rating on Meetup and has led many participants to joining our broader local Bitcoin community.

Event Information

  • Audience: Geared towards beginners, but it is wonderful to have deep-down-the-rabbit-hole Bitcoiners present to further support the discussion.
  • Duration: 2h total
  • Costs: Ideally free. The best way to do this is find a local merchant willing to host your event and invite people to order something to eat or drink. Brownie points if the merchant accepts Bitcoin :)⚡️ You could also try a local co-work, community center, or church if they are open to it. It is best to keep the event free if possible to attract more people.
  • Requirements: A quiet, welcoming location with enough space for your group, where you can either project or display the presentation. Ideally conducive to an educational event with an area for refreshments.

Format for Organizers

  • Arrival: 10/15 minutes. Welcome each individual who comes to the meetup and allow them time to mingle and meet others. This is important to ensure people can have time to make connections and feel welcome. There is an extra slide with questions about inflation, you can put that up to give them an ice breaker but it’s not necessary.
  • Presentation Part 1—Fiat: 20 minutes.
    • Be sure to thank the merchant at the beginning if you have a free location in exchange for ordering food or drinks.
    • The first part of the presentation is about fiat, because we need to first understand the problem Bitcoin solves before understanding why we even need Bitcoin.
    • Avoid any jargon and keep the wording approachable. If you use any technical words, explain them simply.
    • Rather than focusing on the technicalities of central banking (etc), mainly focus on the emotions the audience may be feeling related to inflation (stress, fear, anxiety, burnout) and the impact on their lives (working more for the same living standard, less time with their family…).
  • Questions: 5 minutes. Allow the audience to ask you questions about Fiat (the first part of the presentation only).
  • Break: 15 minutes. The first part about fiat can be heavy (emotionally for some). Take a good break to allow people to integrate, mingle, get refreshments, use the restroom, and ponder the first half of the presentation. In the meantime, if you want, you can put up the slide that has them consider what they have heard about Bitcoin to break the ice in the next section, but it’s not mandatory of course.
  • Presentation Part 2—Bitcoin: 20 minutes: This second half is much lighter and hopeful because we are focusing on Bitcoin. Here you want to emphasize the emotions of hope, peace, abundance, prosperity; a sharp contrast to the first part of the presentation:
    • Ground your talk in facts: scarcity, decentralization, increasing purchasing power over time (a true free market where prices fall to the marginal cost of production). This reality is here and now.
    • Be sure to leave some time for community announcements at the end. I usually invite them to the broader Bitcoin meetup as a next step and announce any Bitcoin news in our town.
  • Questions: 5 minutes. Allow the audience to ask you questions about Bitcoin.
  • Mingle and discuss: 40 minutes. The leftover time can be used to meet others and mingle. Having deep-down-the-rabbit-hole Bitcoiners present is very helpful here because it always adds another voice to what was just presented.

Event Description

If you would like to organize this meetup, here is a description you could use. Please feel free to adapt it to your needs:

Bitcoin: A Paradigm Shift ✨

Bitcoin represents a massive paradigm shift, challenging our preconceived beliefs about money and the world around us.

Built on an incentive structure of cooperation, peace, and abundance rather than competition, conflict, and artificial scarcity, Bitcoin offers a path forward into an incredibly bright and hopeful future that is already here.

You will walk away from this meetup with a grounded and hopeful understanding of this parallel reality ✨

Whether you’re just hearing about Bitcoin or already curious, this is a chance to learn, share, and meet others who are asking similar questions about the world around us.

Evening Format:

  • Mingling: Meet other curious, international and local community members interested in discovering new ideas and challenging their preconceived beliefs about money and the world around them.
  • Presentation: Take a journey down the Bitcoin rabbit hole, starting with an exploration of how our monetary system impacts us daily (ex. rising prices) leading to insights into how Bitcoin offers freedom from these constraints.
  • Integrating the Experience: Leave with a hopeful yet grounded vision for a more empowered (present) future.

In a world where polarization often divides us, we invite you to come with an open mind. This group values curiosity, diverse perspectives, and a shared pursuit of deeper truths—all in the spirit of fostering greater free will. Once you see the world beyond our current reality, you cannot “unsee” it.

  • 📝 What to Bring: An open, curious mind and a way to take notes.
  • 🔊 Language: [Specify which language will be spoken if relevant]
  • ☕️ Cost / Venue + Food/Drinks: [Specify, the following is an example] Free 🙂 Please do support the merchant who is hosting us by ordering something to eat and/or drink. They also accept Bitcoin ⚡️
  • 🚊 Getting to the Venue: [Specify how to get to your event location]
  • 📷 No Photos: We ask that you do not take photos to respect the privacy of participants. Thank you 🙏🏼 [This is not mandatory but it is something I prefer]

NOSTR: Tired of Big Tech? Discover a Better Internet ⚡️

This presentation-workshop aims to educate about the power of NOSTR as a way out of the fiat internet. It is geared towards beginners, content creators, those curious about FOSS and sovereign tech.

I carried out this event with another local Bitcoin educator. Being two people made it easier to split the group in half in order to have a more one-on-one experience for the onboarding part of the workshop.

Event Information

  • Audience: Geared towards beginners, but it is wonderful to have Nosr users present to further support the discussion.
  • Requirements: A quiet, welcoming location with enough space for your group, where you can either project or display the presentation. Ideally conducive to an educational event with an area for refreshments.

    • Be sure to thank the merchant at the beginning if you have a free location in exchange for ordering food or drinks.
    • The first part of the presentation is about what NOSTR is focusing fist on the problem, then on the solution. Avoid any jargon and keep the wording approachable. If you use any technical words, explain them simply.
  • Questions: 5 minutes
  • Break: 10-15 minutes. Allow people some time to integrate, mingle, get refreshments, use the restroom, and ponder the first half of the presentation.
  • Presentation Part 2—Onboarding: 20-30 minutes: The second half is to onboard people to the social layer of NOSTR. Adapt this using your favorite client but keep in mind it should work on any device including Android, iPhone, and desktop so that all people present can join
  • Mingle and discuss: leftover time. The leftover time can be used to meet others and mingle and say bye.

Tired of Big Tech? Discover a Better Internet ⚡️

The internet was fun until it got captured by advertisers, corporate interests, censorship, and governments demanding your ID. What if the solution was already here?

This presentation-workshop aims to bring you into a parallel world that already exists free from ads and where you are the owner; not the product. Content creators can also get paid directly by peers for their creativity with no middle-man involved ⚡️

This event is ideal for anyone “fond of the old internet,” seeking real connection online, or content creators looking to free themselves from big tech.

You will Discover:

  • What NOSTR is, how it works, and why it is unstoppable
  • Why you own your account (messages, followers, content…) entirely
  • How to see only see the content you want and with no ads
  • How to “program” your own algorithm
  • How to move your content history from one platform to another
  • Discover what is being built on NOSTR and how you can participate
  • What Bitcoin has to do with this (zaps)
  • Why NOSTR is already changing monetization strategies (v4v)
  • And so much more! 🙂

This event is free but please order something to drink or eat from the cowork café. They will be offering a Happy Hour with a special price on drinks.

The event will take place in two parts: a presentation and then an onboarding workshop for those who wish to give NOSTR a try. It will be co-lead by the following local Bitcoin educator(s):

Bitcoin for Merchants

This event was co-presented by Daniella and a local merchant who deeply understood the struggles of running a brick-and-mortar location as well as the advantages of accepting Bitcoin. Together, we presented why Bitcoin and helped onboard new merchants using a simple hot wallet on their phone (to get started).

The Presentation

Bitcoin for Merchants

Running a business today isn’t easy; costs keep rising—supplies, wages, rent—and margins keep shrinking. Card fees take a chunk out of every transaction. Finding and keeping good staff is harder than ever. Bringing in new customers while keeping the regulars is always on the top of our minds. But there may be a common solution to these issues.

This meetup is for merchants and small business owners who are curious—maybe even skeptical—about Bitcoin and how it could actually make a difference in their day-to-day operations by increasing their margins and attracting a loyal customer base.

A Bitcoin Educator (Daniella) and Restaurant Owner (Jan) will co-present a straightforward look at:

  • How Bitcoin can help you stand out in a crowded market in Porto
  • How accepting it can put more money in your pocket
  • Why Bitcoin attracts a growing base of loyal, tech-savvy customers
  • What it actually looks like to use accept Bitcoin as a merchant
  • Regulatory and tax basics you need to know

You’ll hear another merchant who is actively accepting Bitcoin share the positive impact it has had on his business; real info and a conversation about practical tools that could make a difference from lived-experience.

About The Organizers:

  • [Your About]

With a deep passion for bitcoin and an understanding of the struggles small and medium sized businesses face, we would like to share our experience with you.

  • Bitcoin Onboarding Workshop: After doing the above presentation a few times I gather enough serious individuals who want to become Bitcoiners. This workshop is to go deeper into the weeds of self-sovereignty (cold vs hot wallets) while onboarding them onto the protocol.
