The Gini Coefficient measures how equally or unequally something is distributed across a group. It ranges from 0 (perfectly equal: Every recipient receives the same amount) to 1 (perfectly unequal: One recipient receives everything). Most commonly applied to income distribution, but can measure inequality in any distribution.
